Evolving Icebreakers

Reliable year-round marine transportation systems are crucial in modern societies, such as the countries along the
Baltic Sea. To ensure that marine transportation systems are impacted as little as possible by the ice conditions around the coasts, the countries operate large fleets of icebreakers. The main task for icebreakers in the Baltic Sea is to secure an efficient and predictable marine transportation system in and out of harbors along the coasts.

Ship sizes and technical requirements have changed over the years, as have the ice conditions. This also guides us at Steerprop as we develop our propulsion solutions to be the best on the market.
