Automation Service Engineer, Steerprop

We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated Automation Service Engineer to strengthen our Service team. In this role, you will be responsible for the service, functionality and development of our customers' propulsion system automation and control solutions, and act as an important technical expert both in the field and through remote support.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Planning and executing service, repair and modernization tasks of automation and control systems in Steerprop's propulsion systems
  • Performing field service on customers' vessels in Finland and worldwide
  • System troubleshooting, diagnostics and incident investigation
  • Supporting customers and internal teams in technical issues of automation systems
  • Documenting service work, measurement results and technical observations clearly and accurately
  • Contributing to continuous development and improvement of automation systems
  • Assisting in commissioning and testing during project deliveries

The skills and experience we value:

  • Experience with industrial automation systems, especially control systems, PLC programming and field devices
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently
  • Customer-oriented approach and strong communication skills
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • Fluency in spoken and written Finnish and English (other languages are a plus)
  • Relevant technical education (e.g. automation, electrical or mechanical engineering, bachelor’s/master’s degree or equivalent)
  • Understanding of marine industry systems is a an advantage

In this role, you will report to the Automation Service team lead with your office located in Rauma, Finland.
